Andrew Macdonald-Brown
I joined the Specialist Schools & Academies Trust in September 2007, sharing responsibility for delivering affiliation and other services to schools in the London region. London has 500 affiliated member schools. Specifically, I run networks and have established the Deputy and Assistant headteacher network, as well facilitating student leadership networks and programmes focusing on in curriculum development, innovation and personalised learning.
I have national role across England associated with 'Innovation' (asociated with student voice, formative assessment, learning technologies, curriculum design, mentoring and coaching) and supported the national 'Innovation Fellows' programme. I also have a keen interest in the impact of new technologies on learning.
I support a number of professional development activities. I am delighted to have recently been asked to coordinate the work of the region's social inclusion, special schools and Primary networks.
I worked in a number of secondary schools in West London over 17 years, spending the last 6 as Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Business and Enterprise specialism and ICT.
I have a background in facilitation and leading professional development, recently focusing on change management and strategic issues associated with the implementation of a number of the personalising learning gateways in schools.
Having set up a professional development network in a local authority (the 'enterprise forum'), and as a Lead Practitioner (London region coordinator) for the schools enterprise education network (S'EEN), I have a strong commitment and belief in the value of building networks to support schools in transforming learning opportunities.
