Mike is a graduate of Western Michigan University, Indiana University, and Johns Hopkins University’s. He has partnered with ISTE and various educational, governmental, and business organizations and foundations. Past experience includes overseeing the Integrated Solutions Block, a 21st century program serving 1050 students integrating technology with core standards, at Woodside Middle School near Fort Wayne, Indiana. He currently serves as the One to One Laptop Initiative Coordinator in Southwest Allen County Schools in Fort Wayne.

Mike is also a consultant for Discovery Education and November Learning. He also serves on the National Faculty for the BUCK Institute for Education (BIE), a leader in facilitating PBL across the world. Mike also has facilitated for the last two years at the National STEM Institute in Washington DC. Mike has won numerous awards including SACS Teacher of The Year, State of Indiana Semi Finalist Teacher Of The Year, US Air Force Association Indiana STEM Educator of the Year, and Fort Wayne Education Innovator of the Year. His blog 21centuryedtech has won awards for innovation and reliability and Mike also blogs for Tech and Learning Magazine and November Learning.

Mike's presentations on STEM, PBL, and 21st Century Learning have been a part of ISTE in Washington DC, Denver, CO, and Philadelphia, Alan November’s “Building Learning Communities ” in Boston, the National Middle School Conference in Indianapolis, CELL’s Education Transformation Conference also in Indianapolis, the Illinois Computer Conferences in Chicago and St Charles, Illinois, the National STEM Institute in Washington DC, and NCA, ICE, MEC 2011 in Tempe AZ, CUE in Palm Springs CA, and IMLEA in Indianapolis.

He has participated in Project VISM at James Madison University and Project Lead the Way at the Rochester Institute of Technology. His pursuit of 21st century learning has included leading an Indiana ISTE state delegation on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, presenting at the Indiana State Rotunda Day for technology, and participation in efforts to initiate a PBL organization for middle schools in Indiana. Along with providing in-services on PBL, STEM, and tech integration for schools both in and outside of Indiana, he will be working with facilitating at BLC, BIE, the National STEM Institute, and numerous PBL Workshops in 2011 and 2012. Mike is currently Vice-president for SIGOL (ISTE) and the communication chair for ICE in Indiana. He was also a national online host for ISTE Remote and has provided numerous nationwide webinars for various organizations.

Most of all, Mike continues to advocate for teachers and students while concentrating efforts at transforming education and bringing 21st Century Skills to every classroom.
